Chapter 91

Megan tried to remain calm, glaring at the young man in the front seat. “Who are you? Where are you taking us?”

The young man, clearly the leader, turned around with a devilish smile. “Officer Castello, you’ve arrested so many of my men; of course, I had to do something.”

“You... you’re from the Grandmaster Heaven Cult?” Megan exclaimed, suddenly realizing the gravity of the situation.

“Gr… Grandmaster Heaven?” Kent stammered, panic setting in.

Darryl frowned, puzzled. What is this Grandmaster Heaven Cult? What powers do they have, and why haven’t I heard of them before?

“As expected of Donghai City’s Criminal Investigation Team Leader; you figured it out right away. Not bad at all,” the leader smiled. “I won’t beat around the bush. My name is Skyler Burr; I am the Head of the Donghai City Branch. Officer Castello, in just a month, you’ve arrested tens of my men. It’s payback time.”

Megan bit her lip. Everyone knew about the Six Orthodox Sects and Clans: Shaolin, Wudang, Emei, Tianshan, Xiaoyao, and Kunlun. However, there were also two major opposing cults, and Grandmaster Heaven was one of them! With a membership of over a few hundred thousand, they were notorious for their evil deeds.

The Grandmaster Heaven Cult, despite being relatively new—only a few hundred years old—had quickly risen to prominence, achieving a status comparable to the Six. A century ago, the Six had banded together to suppress the cult’s evil activities, but in recent years, they had reemerged, growing larger and stronger than ever. In just two years, they had become one of the most powerful forces in the Cultivator realm.

The cult had a strict hierarchy: at the top was the Cult Master and Cult Mistress, followed by the two Yin and Yang Messengers, and then the Four Guardian Kings: Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Peafowl, and Black Tortoise. Below them were the Heads of Branch and the regular cult members. With many branches established in cities across the country, they were a terrifying and powerful organization. Rumor had it that the Tianshan Sect, one of the Six Orthodox Sects, had even allied with them.

The cult had recently set up a branch in Donghai City, which was why Megan had begun arresting them. She never expected they would retaliate so boldly.

The vehicle came to a stop, and Skyler blindfolded the three of them. What followed was an endless series of steps. Despite being unable to see, Darryl paid close attention to his surroundings, noting the sound of waves lapping against the shore. He deduced they must have been brought to Donghai City’s seaside, though he had no idea of their exact location.

After about half an hour, their blindfolds were removed. Panic set in as they surveyed their surroundings.

They found themselves in a massive underground chamber, everything made of stone, with no electricity. The room was illuminated only by flickering torches, resembling a labyrinth with tunnels leading in every direction. Guards were stationed at intervals along the tunnels, creating a highly fortified underground fortress.

Darryl took a deep breath, processing the situation. Skyler signaled for a few of his men to bind them to a stone bench. He sat down, then asked slowly, “So, Officer Castello, let’s discuss how we are going to settle this.” He was sizing Megan up as he spoke. Despite being tied up, she remained striking in her skinny jeans.

Megan bit her lip, hesitant. “Master Burr, your men were caught by me. This has nothing to do with them. I urge you to let them go.”

“Yes! Yes! This has nothing to do with me!” Kent nodded vigorously.

Chapter 92

At Kent's response, Megan was left speechless. She shook her head silently, disappointment washing over her.

Skyler laughed mischievously. “Officer Castello, you’ve got to be kidding me! I went to such great lengths to kidnap you three; why would I let them go just because you ask?” He turned his gaze to Kent. “I know you. You're one of Donghai City's rich brats, Kent Hough, right?”

Kent nodded vigorously, desperate to appease Skyler. “Yes, that’s me! If you let me go, I’ll give you money! Just name your price! I’ll give you everything!”

Skyler laughed. “Afraid of death, are you? I heard you and Officer Castello are engaged. Am I right? As a man, don’t you want to save your fiancée?”

Kent opened his mouth but found no words, swallowing hard as shock set in.

Skyler ignored him and turned to Darryl. “To be able to have a meal with Young Master Kent, you must be rich too.” Darryl frowned, confused by what Skyler meant.

Skyler continued with a twisted smile. “Alright, you two have done nothing to the Grandmaster Heaven Cult. I’m not an unreasonable person. I will let one of you go.”

Kent’s heart raced. Darryl asked calmly, “What do you mean by that?”

Skyler chuckled. “It’s easy. Let’s use your business methods. You two will bid for your own lives. I’ll let the highest bidder go. As for the lower bidder… I’ll first chop off one finger, then throw you into a lockup room.”

Darryl squinted his eyes, suspicion creeping in. Damn, he knows how to play the game.

At that moment, Kent interjected, “I’ll bid! I offer thirty million!” His excitement bubbled over, and he shot a condescending glance at Darryl. This dude is just a live-in son-in-law. There’s no way he has even three million, let alone thirty. I’m going to win! Once I’m out, I’ll get my men to rescue Megan. She’ll be so grateful she might even agree to spend a night with me! Haha!

Seeing Kent so eager, Darryl chuckled to himself. This guy is willing to do anything to survive. Starting his bid at thirty million? Should I go for fifty? Just then, he noticed a shifty expression on Skyler’s face, and his demeanor shifted.

Wait! This guy brought us to the cult's secret lair. They can’t possibly let anyone know about this place. No matter how much I offer, they’re not going to let us go. What’s the point of bidding? Just to satisfy Skyler? Darryl looked at Skyler firmly and said, “I don’t have thirty million.”

At that, Kent was overjoyed, nearly bursting with excitement. “I won! I won! Haha!”

Skyler signaled his men, who grabbed Darryl and pressed him against the table, preparing to chop off his finger. Megan shrieked, “You can’t do this! This has nothing to do with him. If you want your revenge, come at me!”

Skyler ignored her. Kent frowned at Megan, annoyance creeping into his voice as he whispered, “Why do you care so much about this loser? He has no money to bid because he’s useless. Don’t worry, once I’m out, I’ll find a way to rescue you.”

Megan didn’t reply, her eyes locked on Darryl, fear etched across her face.

At that moment, Darryl began to panic.

Chapter 93

Amid the panic, Darryl wanted to cultivate his Inner Force, but the effect of the powder he had inhaled earlier was too strong, and his strength had not yet recovered. Despair washed over him as he felt his palm being forced open. One of the men lifted a knife, ready to swing it down when Skyler suddenly howled, “F*ck, stop!”

The man halted mid-swing, confusion flashing across his face before he took a step back.

Skyler approached Darryl and scrutinized the ring on his left thumb. “Where did you get this thumb ring from?” he exclaimed, agitation bubbling in his chest.

He was familiar with the black and white jade ring; it was the symbol of one of the Six Orthodox Sects and Clans—The Tianshan. Although Tianshan belonged to the Six and was considered a respectable clan, they shared a morally ambiguous reputation like that of the Grandmaster Heaven Cult. Those in the upper echelons of both groups were aware of their alliance.

Years earlier, the masters of both sects had met privately and forged a relationship. It was due to Tianshan's support that the Six could no longer fend off Grandmaster Heaven as they once had. The Tianshan also had a strict hierarchy, with the Sect Master at the top, followed by the Four Kings: East, West, South, and North. The ring on Darryl’s finger represented the East King's symbol, signifying his identity.

Skyler, as the Head of Branch, was not considered high in the order since there were nearly a thousand branches. Though he had never met the East King, he was confident that this ring belonged to him.

Darryl noticed the shift in Skyler's tone and, while he still couldn’t grasp the full situation, he made an educated guess. “The ring belongs to me,” Darryl said calmly, watching Skyler’s reaction closely.

Skyler trembled, preparing to bow, but Darryl halted him with a look. No matter who Skyler thinks I am, this has to do with the ring. I’m a fake—if I draw too much attention, I might blow my cover, he thought.

“Don’t bow. I want to keep a low profile,” Darryl communicated silently.

Skyler nodded fervently, realizing that Darryl was clearly the Tianshan's East King, who didn’t want to reveal his true identity. He must be conducting a secret investigation or something. I must not stand in his way, thought Skyler.

He immediately instructed two of his men to escort Darryl to the main hall. As they were leaving, Kent shouted, “Hey! What’s happening? I’ve bid thirty million! Let me go!”

Skyler shot Kent a deadly glare, and the intensity of it silenced him instantly.

As Skyler led Darryl into the main hall, he bowed deeply. “Lord East King, your servant Skyler Burr is at your service,” he said. “I’m extremely sorry for the misunderstanding. I almost made a huge mistake. I hope my lord won’t take offense. Please forgive me.”

Lord East King? Is this a rank in Grandmaster Heaven that surpasses Skyler Burr? Wait a second. This ring belongs to Brandon. Isn’t he from the Tianshan sect? Why is Skyler being so polite to me? Darryl ruminated, still unclear about the connection between the Grandmaster Heaven Cult and the Tianshan sect.

He simply waved his hand and replied, “Forget about it. You didn’t know what was going on.”

Chapter 94

Darryl scanned the room as he ate, noticing the intricate decor. It was clear this must be an important area, possibly a resting space for higher-ranking members. As he finished his meal, his mind raced with the events that had unfolded, and he knew he needed to act fast.

When Megan whispered to him, "Darryl, what's going on? Why do they treat you with such respect?" Darryl leaned in slightly, keeping his voice low, and replied, "It's complicated. They think I'm someone important—someone from their allied sect. That ring on my finger belongs to a powerful figure from the Tianshan sect, and it seems they’ve mistaken me for him. For now, we have the advantage, but I don’t know how long it will last."

Megan's eyes widened in disbelief, though she tried to stay calm. "So, you're saying they think you're one of them?"

"Exactly," Darryl nodded. "But don’t worry, I’ve got a plan. I found some sedative powder, and I've mixed it into their wine. Once it kicks in, we'll have a chance to escape."

Megan’s face showed a mix of hope and uncertainty. "You think that will work?"

"It has to," Darryl said with determination. "Just stay ready. Once they’re out, I'll come back for you and Kent. We’ll find a way out together."

Megan nodded, biting her lip nervously but trusting Darryl’s plan.

Chapter 95

Kent's face turned pale as the gravity of the situation sank in. He realized he had underestimated the danger he was in. His arrogance melted away, replaced by sheer terror.

"Please, Darryl," Kent whimpered, "I was wrong. I…I shouldn’t have talked down to you. Please, I’m begging you, don’t leave me here."

Darryl paused, his back turned to Kent. Megan glanced at Darryl, silently pleading with him to reconsider.

With a deep sigh, Darryl finally walked back over to Kent and unlocked his cuffs. "This is the last time I’m helping you, Kent," Darryl warned, his voice firm. "You should think twice before acting like a spoiled brat."

Kent nodded frantically, too relieved to respond with anything more than gratitude. "Thank you…thank you…" he mumbled.

Darryl, Megan, and Kent hurried through the labyrinth-like tunnels, trying to find the exit before anyone woke up. Megan glanced at Darryl again, this time with a mix of admiration and curiosity. "You really saved us back there," she said softly. "How did you stay so calm?"

Darryl shrugged, keeping his eyes on the path ahead. "I just did what I had to. Let’s just focus on getting out of here."

As they moved deeper into the tunnels, the sense of urgency grew. They knew that if Skyler or the other cult members woke up before they found the exit, their chance at survival would vanish in an instant.

Chapter 96

"Yeah, I'm back," Darryl replied with a smile, trying to act casual even though his mind was still racing from everything that had happened. His eyes briefly scanned Lily’s bright, lively appearance. She looked stunning, as usual, but Darryl couldn’t shake the weight of the events from the previous night.

"Where were you all night? I didn’t hear you come in," Lily asked curiously, her eyes searching his face for any clues.

Darryl hesitated for a moment, considering whether to tell her about the chaos he had just escaped. But instead, he simply said, "Just out handling some things. Nothing too serious."

Lily smiled, seemingly satisfied with his answer. "Well, I'm glad you're back safe," she said warmly, before changing the subject. "I was thinking of going out for breakfast. Want to join me?"

"Sure," Darryl nodded, appreciating the opportunity to shift his focus for a while. He felt stronger and more powerful than ever, thanks to mastering the Nine Dragons Ascension technique, but he knew he needed to keep that to himself for now.

As they left the house, Darryl couldn’t help but reflect on how his life had changed. He had stumbled upon immense power, navigated dangerous situations, and somehow managed to maintain a calm front. But deep down, he knew this was just the beginning. The more power he gained, the more responsibility and danger would follow.

Still, for now, he was content to enjoy a peaceful breakfast with Lily, savoring a rare moment of calm before the next storm inevitably hit.

Chapter 97

Darryl could feel his blood boiling as he watched Lily get cornered by her family. The entire room seemed to turn against her, only thinking about their own selfish gains. He couldn't stand it any longer.

Before Lily could respond further, Darryl stepped forward. "Granny Lyndon, with all due respect, you're making a huge mistake," he said firmly, causing everyone to go silent. All eyes turned toward him, filled with disdain and curiosity.

"And who are you to tell me what a mistake is?" Granny Lyndon retorted, her voice cold and dismissive. "You've been nothing but a burden to this family."

Darryl met her gaze, unshaken. "You think forcing Lily to marry a man like Trent Young is going to benefit the family? You all seem to forget how he tried to humiliate and harm her. You're willing to sacrifice her happiness for some shares in a deal that won’t even benefit the family in the long run."

The room erupted again, with William and the rest of the family piling on their criticism.

"You're just a live-in son-in-law! What do you know about family matters?"

"How dare you speak like that to Granny Lyndon!"

"Lily's happiness doesn't matter. What matters is that we secure our future!"

Darryl raised his hand, silencing the room. "Actually, it does matter. And you'll soon see why."

Just then, Darryl’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He checked it and smiled. “I was waiting for this.” He walked over to Granny Lyndon and handed her the phone.

She hesitated, glaring at him, but eventually took the phone and looked at the screen. Her eyes widened as she read the message displayed. She gasped and quickly handed the phone to William, who had the same shocked expression.

"What... what is this?" William stammered.

Darryl crossed his arms, his calm demeanor never wavering. "That’s a notice from Trent Young’s lawyers. He’s about to lose all of his assets. The Young family is under investigation, and any deal involving him is worthless now. So, are you all still eager to sell off your estate shares to someone who’s about to lose everything?"

A murmur spread across the room as the family members absorbed the news.

"This can’t be true!" William protested, though the panic in his voice was undeniable.

Granny Lyndon was speechless. She looked at Darryl, who held her gaze confidently. "How... how did you know this?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Darryl smiled. "Let’s just say I have my sources. But more importantly, I care about Lily’s well-being. Unlike Trent, I’m not looking to exploit her."

Lily, who had been silent, now looked at Darryl in surprise and admiration. She had never expected him to take such a stand for her.

Granny Lyndon, clearly rattled, turned away, unable to argue further. "This meeting is over," she said, her voice weak.

One by one, the family members left the room, murmuring among themselves, while Darryl and Lily stood together, side by side. As the last of them exited, Lily finally spoke.

"Thank you, Darryl," she said softly, her eyes filled with gratitude.

Darryl shrugged, trying to downplay it. "I told you, you have me. I won’t let them force you into anything."

Lily smiled, feeling a weight lift from her shoulders. For the first time in a long while, she felt hopeful.

Chapter 98

The silence was deafening as everyone processed what had just happened. Granny Lyndon, known for her composure, was momentarily stunned. She looked between Paul James and Lily, trying to make sense of it all.

"Fifty-one percent?" William muttered, his face pale. "That's... the controlling stake in the family estate."

Granny Lyndon’s expression quickly shifted from confusion to shock. "Why... Why would you do this?" she asked, struggling to maintain her authority.

Paul smiled calmly. "It’s simple. Darryl here is my brother-in-law. He's done a lot for me and my company, so I owe him. This transfer is a token of my appreciation."

Darryl grinned at the stunned faces. "You see, Granny, you were wrong about me all along."

Lily, still in shock herself, stared at Darryl, who stood confidently beside her. It all made sense now. The mysterious messages, the calm demeanor—he had this all planned out.

Granny Lyndon, struggling to regain control, stammered, "This is absurd! We can't allow this. We need to discuss—"

Paul cut her off, his voice firm, "It's already done. There's nothing to discuss. Lily now owns the majority of the estate." He turned to Lily, offering her a reassuring smile. "If you ever need anything, just reach out. I’m sure you'll manage things well."

With that, Paul and his assistants turned to leave. The room was left in chaos, with the Lyndon family suddenly realizing their entire power dynamic had shifted. Darryl stood next to Lily, the smirk never leaving his face.

"Looks like they’ll have to beg you now, just like I said," he whispered to Lily, who couldn’t help but smile through her shock.

Chapter 99

Darryl was caught off guard seeing his parents in his office. He hadn't expected them at all, especially after such a hectic morning. Daniel Darby, his father, smiled warmly, while Luna Shaw, his mother, looked relieved to see him.

"Darryl, it's been so long. We missed you," Daniel said softly, standing up to give his son a firm hug.

Luna followed suit, her eyes filled with emotion. "We’ve been worried about you, Darryl," she said, her voice trembling slightly.

Darryl felt a mix of emotions—joy, relief, but also a hint of guilt. His relationship with his parents had been strained for years, mostly due to his decision to live as a son-in-law in the Lyndon family, which they had never fully approved of.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Darryl asked, guiding them to sit back down.

"We didn’t want to bother you, son," Daniel explained. "We know you’re busy with work. But your mother and I felt it was time to see you. There are some important things we need to discuss."

Darryl frowned slightly, sensing the gravity in his father’s tone. "What’s going on?"

Luna, always the more direct of the two, spoke up. "There are things you need to know about our family. Things we’ve kept from you for your protection. But now... it’s time you learned the truth."

Darryl's heart raced. He had always sensed there was more to his family's story, but he never pressed for answers. Now, it seemed like those long-held secrets were about to come to light.

Before Darryl could ask anything further, Daniel leaned forward, his expression serious. "Darryl, there’s a reason why you’ve been able to do things that most people can’t. It’s not just luck or coincidence. It’s in your blood."

Chapter 100

Three years ago, Darryl and his parents were kicked out. Since then, his parents have been living in the countryside. Darryl visited them every few days.

“Darryl, I heard from your uncle a few days ago that he handed over the Platinum Corporation to you. I couldn’t believe it, so I had to come and see for myself,” Daniel laughed warmly.

“So, are you really the President of Platinum Corporation?” asked his mother, Luna.

Darryl nodded and explained, "Dad, Mom, the issue from three years ago has been resolved. We reconciled, and Uncle Drake was the one who transferred Platinum Corporation to me." He smiled. "For the past three years, I’ve made you both worry. Now that everything is settled, I was thinking about how to bring it up to you when you both showed up."

Daniel sighed with relief and said emotionally, “It’s great that the misunderstanding has been cleared. We can finally be at peace.” Darryl nodded and offered, "Dad, Mom, since you're here, why don't you stay and not go back to the countryside? Even though it’s peaceful and the air is fresh there, it’s hard to get around."

Daniel thought for a moment, glanced at Luna, and nodded. "Alright, your mother and I will return to the mansion. We’ve missed the family since it’s been so long."

“I’ll take you there,” Darryl offered.

Daniel waved his hand and said, “Don’t worry about it. You’re busy managing the corporation. Besides, your mother and I haven’t been to the city in a while. We’d like to explore. Don’t worry, go ahead with your work.” At his father’s insistence, Darryl agreed.

After they left, Darryl took out his clay jar and began preparing the Godly Pill.

At Donghai's seaside, the Darby Mansion stood tall. Two servants were at the door when a rental car arrived. A middle-aged couple stepped out.

Looking at the mansion, Daniel and Luna felt a wave of nostalgia.

“Master Daniel, Lady Luna?” The two servants were shocked. They quickly greeted them and rushed to welcome them inside.

Ten minutes later, Drake, the Darby clan patriarch, entered the living room with Florian, Yumi, and others. With a look of satisfaction, Drake chuckled at Daniel. “Second brother, you’ve finally come around? It’s wonderful to have you back! I’ll have the rooms prepared for you.”

Three years ago, when Darryl and his parents were expelled from the Darby family, Drake had felt guilty.

Daniel responded cheerfully, "Brother, there’s no need to be formal with me. This is my home. Why wouldn’t I come back? I returned because I heard that the misunderstanding with Darryl had been cleared up, so I wanted to see for myself."

At the mention of Darryl, the expressions of the Darby family darkened. Jackson’s face, in particular, was bitter.

Ever since Jackson’s wedding, rumors of Rebecca being defiled by Darryl had spread rapidly, tarnishing the family’s name.

“You were kicked out three years ago! How dare you return now?” Yumi snapped, stomping her heels.

Daniel’s expression turned sour. “What are you talking about?”

Yumi sneered and said, “Let me tell you, your precious son Darryl emptied our family funds to buy shares in a petroleum company. And as if that wasn’t enough, now he’s involved in shameless acts!”

Yumi continued, "His marriage into the Lyndon family brought us shame, and now we find out he committed such a disgusting act!"

Luna couldn’t remain seated any longer. She frowned and asked, "My son? What happened? Explain yourself!"

Yumi gestured to Florian. He approached and said, “Aunt, Uncle, I’m sure you haven’t heard yet. Darryl... raped Rebecca on her wedding night.”

“What?!”

As if struck by lightning, Daniel and Luna stood up at once. Luna defended her son, shaking her head. “Impossible! Darryl would never do something like that!”

Florian grinned and taunted, “Hey Jackson, why don’t you tell them what happened?”

Jackson approached slowly and said, “Aunt, Uncle, all the evidence points to Darryl. He’s the one who raped my wife.”

The news was a devastating blow to Daniel. He collapsed back into his chair.

“You heard it from Jackson himself. How could it be false?” Yumi sneered. “Who knows what other immoral things Darryl has done! If he were my son, I’d have disowned him a long time ago and never come back to this family.”

Her tone grew harsher as she continued, “I heard Lily Lyndon hasn’t let Darryl touch her in three years. He probably lost control at the sight of a woman! Even his own brother’s wife. Does he even deserve to be called human? Kicking you all out three years ago was the best decision we made, yet you have the audacity to return?”

“My son would never do such a thing!” Daniel shouted, clutching his chest in pain.

The others sneered. “The whole family knows about your son’s disgraceful actions!”

“Yeah, your ‘good’ son!”

“Like father, like son! You didn’t raise him right, and you still dare to come back here!”

“You’re all rotten apples!”

Daniel’s eyes turned red as he pointed at everyone and yelled, “All of you, shut up! My... my son would never—” But before he could finish, he collapsed, convulsing and foaming at the mouth.

Chapter 101

Platinum Corporation, president's office.

After three hours of refining, the Godly Pill was perfected. With the experience of having refined it twice before, Darryl had become more skilled in the process. This time, he successfully produced five pills at once.

As he was removing the pills, his phone suddenly rang.

What was going on today? Why were so many people calling him? Could it be potential customers wanting to buy the Godly Pill? How many people had Brandon told about it?

Seeing that the call was from an unknown landline number, Darryl frowned and answered.

"Hello? Is this Darryl? We're calling from City Hospital's emergency department. Your parents are here, and they need surgery immediately. Please come as soon as possible," the person on the other end said urgently.

Huh? Darryl’s body tensed. He thought he might have heard wrong.

"What did you say? What happened to my parents?" Darryl asked loudly.

The person on the other end grew impatient. "What are you yelling for? I've never seen such irresponsible children like you. Your father had a heart attack from being so angry, and now his life is in danger, yet you dropped him here and left. What do you think this is? A charity hospital? Get over here now!" the voice snapped before slamming the phone down.

Without wasting a second, Darryl rushed out of the office and sped to the hospital.

City Hospital, emergency hall.

Darryl's mother, Luna, had already regained consciousness, but Daniel's condition was critical and he needed surgery. Since they hadn’t paid the hospital fees, Daniel had been moved to the corridor.

"I'm begging you, please save him," Luna sobbed, tears streaming down her face. "We won't owe the money for long. Can you please save him first?"

The couple had been living in their old village home for the past three years with no income, and their savings weren’t enough to cover the medical costs. The doctor had told Luna that if the bill wasn’t paid, they couldn’t perform the surgery. The hospital staff remained indifferent.

"I’m begging you, please save him first. The money will be here soon," Luna pleaded, tears running down her face.

One of the nurses, growing tired of her pleas, frowned and said, "Why are you acting like this, old lady? We’ve already told you, without payment, we can’t proceed with the surgery."

Judging by the couple’s worn appearance, the nurse assumed they couldn’t afford the medical fees. She had heard similar excuses countless times from people who promised to pay after receiving treatment. "Instead of shouting at us, you should be trying to raise the money," the nurse added rudely.

"My son will be here soon. Please, just save him," Luna begged in despair.

"Your son?" The nurse scoffed. She assumed that Luna’s son was likely poor as well. From their shabby clothes, she guessed they had barely made ends meet in the village. If the parents couldn’t afford the fees, their son surely couldn’t either.

"Darryl!" At that moment, Luna’s face lit up as she saw Darryl running toward her. "Hurry, save your father!" she cried.

"Mom, I’m here," Darryl said, panting heavily. He turned and rushed toward the nurse. "Why hasn’t the surgery started yet?"

Life was at stake, and just because they hadn’t paid yet, they hadn’t started the surgery?

The nurse glanced at Darryl and responded flatly, "No payment, no surgery. That’s the rule here."

"I’ll pay the money, but start the surgery immediately!" Darryl demanded coldly.

"You’ll pay?" The nurse eyed Darryl skeptically and sneered. "Do you even know how serious your father’s condition is? Do you know how much the surgery costs? Over 700,000 bucks! Can you afford it? Your mother couldn’t, and now you’re here doing the same thing as her, pestering us instead of raising the money."

Only 700,000 bucks?

"You mean to tell me that because of this mere 700,000 bucks, you're willing to let a sick man suffer without care?" Darryl's voice was fierce.

The nurse, startled by his tone, still pouted and retorted, "What are you going to do? Attack me? Are you angry because you can’t afford it?"

Darryl’s eyes burned with intensity. "I'm telling you to save him," he said, his voice low and dangerous.

The nurse rolled her eyes. "We can save him, but first, pay up. Do you understand? Look out there, everyone’s lining up to pay. If you don’t pay now, your father might not survive. Even if you did pay now, it could already be too late."

"Save him!" Darryl roared furiously.

Crash!

A powerful wave of internal energy burst out from Darryl’s body, sweeping through the entire second floor. The surrounding glass shattered instantly.

Silence fell across the hospital. If a needle dropped, it could be heard clearly.

Chapter 102

Everyone stared at Darryl, their expressions as if they were looking at a demon.

"What are you doing!? Security! Call security and throw all three of them out!" The nurse, clearly frightened, shouted. However, upon closer inspection, she noticed Darryl was only wearing bargain clothes and wondered how he could intimidate anyone.

"Yeah, what are you yelling about in a hospital?"

"It's bad enough that you're poor; now you're trying to order the hospital to help you for free?"

Several doctors, unable to tolerate the scene any longer, approached to speak up.

As their words faded, over a dozen fierce security guards arrived. Though clad in security uniforms, each guard was muscular and appeared menacing, exuding an air of danger that suggested they had a history with gangs.

Upon seeing the security guards, the nurse huffed and pointed at Darryl. "It's him! He’s the troublemaker!"

Donghai City Hospital had hired all their security personnel from BlackWolf Security.

Who were the heads of BlackWolf Security? Abby and Brandon.

These two siblings were notorious throughout Donghai City! Everyone feared them.

BlackWolf Security provided security for many places in Donghai City, so who would dare cause trouble here?

The head of security, Alex Garfield, approached with a baton in hand. However, as he got closer to Darryl, he froze in shock.

"Mister Garfield, it's him!" the nurse shouted loudly. "He wanted treatment even though he doesn’t have the money. We refused him, and now he’s causing trouble!"

What? Alex couldn't believe his eyes.

Damn it, a few days ago, he had accompanied the lady boss to a wedding and met this guy!

Wasn’t he Darryl? The Second Young Master of the Darby clan! He had even saved the lady boss!

According to her, Darryl possessed a mystical pill—the Godly Pill—that enabled breakthroughs. He had sold one pill to Brandon for two billion bucks!

Moreover, Brandon had indeed experienced a breakthrough!

"Mister Garfield, get him out of here!" the nurse demanded coldly.

"Shut the f*** up!" Alex shouted, his voice instantly frightening the nurse.

"Brother Darryl," Alex said respectfully, stepping forward, "I’m sorry this nurse doesn’t recognize you..."

Darryl frowned. He didn’t know the man in front of him, so why was he calling him Brother Darryl?

It wasn’t surprising Darryl didn’t recognize Alex; there had been many people at the wedding banquet, and someone as insignificant as Alex hadn’t had the chance to speak with him.

Just then, a gentle voice cut through the tension.

Darryl turned to see a beautiful female doctor standing before him, looking surprised.

Although she wore a white coat, her firm figure was visible.

This doctor looked familiar; she was none other than the goddess doctor from Jackson's wedding banquet—Shelly!

Indeed, Shelly was known as the goddess doctor. At the wedding banquet, she couldn’t save Abby despite her medical skills, but Darryl had succeeded—much to everyone’s surprise!

Even though a few days had passed, Shelly remained curious about this man.

At that moment, Shelly noticed Darryl's father lying there, clearly having suffered a sudden heart attack.

A few other people gathered, and among them, two recognized Darryl.

"Isn't this the Lyndons' live-in son-in-law?"

"And are those his parents?"

"Tsk, his father is in such dire condition, yet they still can't afford treatment. Sigh..."

"Let's not talk about it; they’re pitiful enough as it is."

"This sorry state is a result of his own pathetic behavior."

Though Darryl heard their whispers, he maintained a stern expression and ignored their gossip. He turned to Shelly and asked, "Doctor Sullivan, how's my father?"

"The patient's condition is unstable; he needs surgery immediately," Shelly replied gravely after examining him.

"Then I'll need your help, Director Sullivan," Darryl said anxiously.

Shelly nodded and instructed the nearby nurses to push Daniel to the operating room.

"Director Sullivan, he hasn’t paid the fees yet," the earlier nurse interjected, her tone filled with disdain as she judged Darryl.

How could this pathetic person possibly know Director Sullivan? She thought he must have used some sort of trick to convince her to treat the patient without payment.

Chapter 103

Upon hearing the nurse's comments, the crowd around them began whispering again.

"Can't even pay for treatment; how hopeless."

Shelly overheard the discussions and locked eyes with Darryl. "It's fine, let's help him first. I believe him."

At the wedding banquet, she had heard that Darryl was the Second Young Master, who had contributed three billion bucks to help fund the family!

The medical fee was only a measly 700,000 bucks; how could Darryl not afford it?

The nurse felt anxious. The man in front of her didn’t seem wealthy; how did Director Sullivan know him? If the patient was treated first but this peasant couldn't pay afterward, Director Sullivan would have to cover the 700,000 bucks medical fee herself!

Since Director Sullivan insisted on performing the surgery first, the doctors and nurses remained silent and wheeled Daniel to the operating room.

"Don't worry, I'll do my best," Shelly said to Darryl as she followed them into the room.

Phew!

Darryl sighed deeply and sat beside his mother.

"Mom, how could this happen? Didn’t you go to visit family?" Darryl couldn’t hold back his question.

His father had always been healthy; why would he suddenly fall ill?

Luna sighed but didn’t answer directly. Instead, she looked at Darryl and asked, "Darry, tell me honestly, what happened during Jackson's wedding?"

Darryl was taken aback. "I didn’t do anything!"

As he spoke, his mind drifted to the eight-diagrams mirror. Could it be that his father was affected by it? That seemed impossible; the evil spirit mainly targeted women. Though his father was older, he still had the energy of a man. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t have fainted due to an evil spirit.

While Darryl was deep in thought, Luna struggled to speak. "According to them, you violated Jackson's newlywed wife. Your father and I argued with them, and then he fainted."

Darryl violated Jackson's wife? Where had this rumor come from?

In an instant, Darryl's mind went blank, and his entire body felt numb.

"Mom, they must be mistaken. I left before it got dark!"

Luna felt relieved. "Your father and I definitely believe you, but they insisted it was your doing, even Jackson said so."

As Darryl clenched his fists, a middle-aged man approached.

"Why are there so many people gathered here? What's going on?"

It was Richard Stone, the Chief of Staff of the hospital.

The medical staff and bystanders hastily greeted him and whispered a few words.

"What? Shelly is performing surgery without payment? This is a mess!" Richard frowned and commanded, "Go get Shelly for me. She knows the rules of the hospital, and yet she dared to make such a mistake. Who gave her the courage?"

The medical staff hesitated, glancing at the time. "Chief, Director Shelly must have started the surgery by now. If we rush in, I'm afraid..."

Before he could finish, the chief shot him a glare. "So what if she's in the middle of surgery? I order her to stop immediately! After the surgery, are you going to pay the 700,000 bucks medical fee? I’ll see who dares go in!"

At that moment, Darryl stood up, his expression cold.

"Who are you?" Richard asked, visibly annoyed.

"The person being saved inside is my father!"

Richard sized up Darryl and shot a few glances at simple-looking Luna. He let out a cold laugh. "You lot must be Shelly's relatives, trying to sneak in through the back door. You think you can get treatment without paying? In your dreams."

"Are you even worthy of the white coat you're wearing?" Darryl stepped forward, fire burning in his eyes. "The medical fee is 700,000 bucks, right?"

Darryl threw a bank card at Richard.

Huh?

This is... Amethyst Bank's black card!?

Richard felt his hair stand on end! The doctors and nurses around were confused. They didn’t know about the black card, but Richard definitely did!

But... a man like Darryl having a black card?

"Who are you trying to fool with this fake black card from Amethyst Bank?" Richard scoffed after his initial shock faded.

He then ordered the medical staff beside him, "Take his card. Let’s see if there’s any money."

As the medical staff took the card, Richard called for two security guards. "Keep your eyes on him; don’t let him get away later."

At that moment, Richard was convinced that Darryl was merely bluffing.

Once they confirmed the Amethyst Bank black card was fake, he planned to call the police.

Soon, the medical staff returned with the bank card.

"Greetings, sir. Here’s your bank card and receipt." The medical staff approached Darryl, their demeanor now extremely polite!

Chapter 104

What?

This kid's Amethyst Bank black card wasn't fake? It could actually retrieve 700,000 bucks?

In an instant, Richard's face went stiff as he stared at Darryl in shock. A real... black card?!

Motherf*cker! Richard had worked hard all his life and barely managed to get a gold card from Amethyst Bank!

It was safe to say there were no more than three black cards in the entire Donghai City!

"Well, sir, that was a real misunderstanding. My apologies for just now," Richard stammered, realizing he could not afford to offend the young man in front of him!

Wow!

At the same time, the crowd that had gathered for amusement was left agape.

700,000 bucks!

This kid truly could afford it.

Wasn't he a live-in son-in-law, a piece of trash? Why would he have so much money?

Several nurses were dumbfounded, standing there without daring to take a breath.

"There’s no need to apologize. I only request that my father is safe and healthy," Darryl said coldly.

"Yes, yes! Don’t worry, sir, I’ll arrange the best ward for your father," Richard replied, doing his best to redeem himself.

After an hour, Daniel was wheeled out of the operating room.

"Director Sullivan, how is my father’s condition?" Darryl rushed toward her anxiously.

"Consider yourself lucky this time. Your father’s condition was unexpected, but he’s not in any danger," Shelly said. "It was triggered by anger. What made your old man so angry?"

Darryl sighed with relief but didn’t answer her. They exchanged a few simple words, and eventually, Darryl accompanied his father to his ward.

In the ward, Luna poured a glass of water and asked, "Son, Director Sullivan is quite pretty, and she’s such a kind person. What’s your relationship with her?"

"Mom, we’re just friends. There’s nothing special between us, don’t overthink it," Darryl replied with a mix of annoyance and amusement at his mother’s gossip.

It was already midnight, and sleepiness struck Darryl.

When he opened his eyes, it was bright outside.

His father was still fast asleep, but his complexion looked rosy; he seemed much healthier than the day before.

"Darry, you should go thank Director Sullivan. If not for her timely treatment, I’m afraid your father..."

Luna said solemnly after finishing her breakfast.

Darryl nodded.

His mother was right; he should properly thank Shelly. As he thought this, he walked toward her office.

In the Chief of Staff’s office, Shelly sat calmly.

"Chief, you’re looking for me?" she asked.

Richard sat on the sofa with a smile, his eyes checking her out.

It had to be said that Shelly, nearing her thirties, had maintained her looks well. Even in a doctor’s coat, her alluring figure was hard to miss.

Such beauty could make any man swoon. Richard was no exception.

"Oh Shelly, what happened last night? Why did you begin the surgery before the patient had made the payment? Do you know him?" Richard asked, assuming a leadership posture.

Shelly didn’t hide anything and nodded. "I know him. The patient’s son is the Darby clan’s Second Young Master."

What?

Richard pondered Darryl's identity all night, and hearing Shelly's words now left him stunned.

The Darby clan was a prestigious family in Donghai City; he was relieved to have apologized in time yesterday!

"As far as I know, he’s still the Lyndon clan’s live-in son-in-law," Shelly added after some thought.

The Lyndon clan's live-in son-in-law?

Richard almost laughed out loud. So this brat was the rumored Lyndon clan’s live-in son-in-law.

Now everything made sense.

Rumor had it that this brat was a good-for-nothing toy boy. Perhaps the Amethyst Bank black card in his possession belonged to the Lyndons? This brat would likely face punishment from his wife for swiping 700,000 bucks.

Furthermore, none of the members of the Darby clan had shown up. It seemed they didn’t want to associate with someone like Darryl.

Initially, Richard had felt some fear, but now it seemed his worries were unfounded.

As Richard checked out Shelly, the corner of his lip revealed a crooked grin.

Shelly looked utterly gorgeous in blue jeans and a white button-down shirt. Richard had been eyeing her for a long time but never had the opportunity.

"Oh, Shelly." Richard cleared his throat and adopted a stern expression. "Even if you and that Darryl know each other, you can’t break the rules of the hospital. You’re known as Donghai City’s godlike doctor, and I’ve always had high hopes for you. However, what you did is making it difficult..."

Shelly’s expression began to change, worry creeping in. "Chief, I was just in a hurry to save a man’s life. Also, didn’t Darryl pay afterward?"

Richard stood up and slowly walked toward Shelly, smiling as he shook his head. "It doesn’t matter how you put it; performing surgery before payment has been made is against the rules, and that’s a fact."

Shelly’s body trembled. "Chief, punish me as you see fit."

Chapter 105

Richard smiled wider and said, "Look at you! How could I ever punish you? Shelly, I’ve liked you for a very long time. If you're willing to be with me, I'll treat you well. The position of Deputy Head is still vacant; there are loads of contenders, you know..." He grabbed Shelly's hand and hugged her.

"Chief! Please don’t do that!" Shelly exclaimed, struggling. Richard's grip was strong, and he showed his true colors. With an evil smile, he ignored her pleas and pressed her onto the sofa.

SLAM!

The office door was kicked open. Darryl entered with a cheerful smile, looking for Shelly. He had heard that she was called to the Chief of Staff’s office, so he came to check. When he arrived at the door, he heard Shelly's screams.

"You!" Richard was shocked, then shouted, "Who the f*ck let you in? F*ck off!"

Richard had initially thought Darryl was a big shot and that he should show some respect. Upon learning that Darryl was just a live-in son-in-law, he saw no reason to hold back.

"Chief Stone, I see you’re having fun," Darryl said cheerfully.

Shelly got up from the sofa and arranged her clothes, feeling creeped out. Why was he here? Nonetheless, he had arrived at the right time. She gave Darryl a grateful look, which was very charming.

"Who the f*ck let you in? Darryl, you better f*ck off. You’re just a live-in son-in-law, a toy boy. I warn you, if you make me mad, I’ll have your father kicked out!" Richard threatened.

Darryl approached Richard with a smile and grabbed him by the collar, lifting him up.

"What are you doing? Let me go!" Richard exclaimed, not expecting Darryl to be this strong, panic settling in.

Shelly was equally stunned. She quickly said, "Don’t be hasty."

Darryl turned to look at her and said calmly, "What? You’re defending him? He’s a worthless scumbag."

Shelly blushed and bit her lip.

"F*cker, I’m warning you. If anything happens to me, I’ll make sure you end up in prison!" Richard shouted, trying to suppress the panic within him. How dare a lowly live-in son-in-law like him lay a finger on him! He thought he had many ways to make Darryl pay for this!

SLAP!

Darryl slapped Richard hard, leaving an imprint on his face.

"How... how dare you slap me?" Richard stammered.

Shelly had heard from others that Darryl was weak, but no matter what, he seemed very manly to her. The commotion in Richard’s office attracted a crowd.

"What’s happening? Why is everyone here?" asked Alex Garfield, Head of Security.

Seeing Alex, Richard smiled and said to Darryl haughtily, "You’re dead meat."

Richard ordered Alex, "Quick, escort him to the police station."

What surprised Richard was that Alex did not move.

"Brother... Darryl, what’s happening?" Alex asked, confused and treading on eggshells.

"Nothing you should be bothered about," Darryl replied calmly. Alex nodded and stepped out of the office.

Richard yelled, "Alex Garfield, are you blind? Can’t you see I’m being beaten up? Are you trying to get fired?"

Alex laughed. Black Wolf Security and the hospital had a partnership; Richard's threats meant nothing to him.

At that moment, Darryl’s phone rang. He threw Richard onto the floor and picked up the phone. The caller was the same middle-aged man who had requested the Godly pill yesterday.

"Hello, Mr. Darby, are you free now?" the caller asked politely.

Chapter 106

Darryl was not in the mood and replied curtly, "I'm at the City Hospital. Come and find me."

"Alright, I'll be there shortly," the caller laughed before hanging up.

Richard, still on the floor, spat blood and glared at Darryl with loathing. "I dare you to stay here!" He then pointed at Shelly and said, "You! You brought him here on purpose, didn't you? Don't even think about being a Director!"

With that, he took his phone out, trying to dial a number.

"Calling for backup? Sure, I’ll be here waiting," Darryl laughed coldly.

Shelly, on the other hand, was anxious. She approached Darryl and said softly, "Darryl, you better leave. Richard's the Chief of Staff; he has important people as his backup. He knows many rich and powerful people."

Shelly was worried about how Darryl might not be able to leave the hospital in peace, as well as her own career here.

"Don't worry, I will handle it," replied Darryl.

"Handle?" Shelly was slightly dumbfounded. During Jackson's wedding, she could see that Darryl didn’t have a good relationship with his family. Also, he had no standing with the Lyndons.

Richard was about to dial when footsteps were heard outside the office.

"Is Mr. Darby here?" A well-dressed middle-aged man walked in slowly, followed by two bodyguards.

Though the man had a friendly face, he radiated a frightening aura. His name was Zachariah Wright. Three years ago, he was the Commander of the Donghai Military Region. After retiring, he founded Hydrohill Group, the most successful forestry company in Donghai City. Most of the company’s earnings were donated to charity, planting countless trees. He had an exceptional reputation. Zachariah dedicated half of his life to protecting Donghai City, earning a very prestigious standing.

Although Richard was Chief of Staff, he had no authority to kick any patients out of the hospital; yet with just one word from Zachariah Wright, Darryl's father could be thrown out!

Richard put his phone down, as if holding onto his only hope, and pleaded, "Pre... President Wright, you came at the right time! I was just about to call you. You have to help me!"

Shelly looked down in remorse. Now she felt she was done for. Powerful people were here, and she was sure she wouldn’t be able to continue working here anymore.

No one would have guessed that Zachariah ignored Richard and approached Darryl, asking, "Mr. Darby?"

"That's me," replied Darryl, not bothering to stand up.

Seeing that Darryl remained seated, Richard reprimanded, "B*stard, show him some respect!"

"Darryl, please... please stand up," Shelly pleaded, extremely nervous.

Zachariah walked up to Darryl politely and asked, "Mr. Darby, I have prepared everything. Did you bring the item?"

"Yes, it's here with me," replied Darryl. He then pointed to Richard and said, "Let's settle this first, then we'll discuss the rest."

"Sure!" Zachariah replied immediately.

Zachariah stared at Richard coldly and asked, "Richard, what’s the matter?"

Richard, realizing that something was off, was struck dumb. What was happening? How did this guy know President Wright? Also, why was President Wright so polite to him? Impossible! Even Drake Darby, who came by the other day, had to bow down to President Wright!

What Richard didn’t know was that this was the first time Darryl and Zachariah had met. However, for the Godly pill, Zachariah was willing to do anything— even kneel! After all, leveling up to a higher cultivation realm was a dream most cultivators could only wish for.

Shelly was completely stunned by their interaction as well.

Darryl laughed, "It seems Chief Stone is too embarrassed to say. Director Sullivan, why don't you tell us what happened?"

Shelly trembled, lowered her head, and related the events that transpired. When she finished, she blushed in embarrassment.

"Richard Stone! I promoted you to Chief of Staff. Is this how you should act?" Zachariah reprimanded, then kicked Richard in the stomach.

Chapter 107

THUD!

Richard slammed against the office desk and then fell to the floor. He dared not shout in pain but looked at Zachariah with fear in his eyes, saying, "President Wright, I—"

"Richard, shut the hell up! I expected more from you, yet you let me down greatly. You're fired as the Chief of Staff," Zachariah rebuked.

"Pres... President..." Richard quivered, yet he could not move.

Zachariah looked at Shelly and said, "As a doctor, the patient always comes first. You did the right thing. From now on, you're the Chief of Staff."

What? Shelly trembled, her legs feeling like jelly.

She was expecting the worst possible outcome but did not foresee that the circumstances would turn around so quickly. Suddenly, not only did she not lose her job, but she also got promoted? She could barely react to the news.

Zachariah turned toward Darryl, smiled politely, and asked, "I've settled the issue. Mr. Darby, are you satisfied?"

Darryl nodded and laughed, "President Wright, you are astute and just! You handled it perfectly!"

Though they had only just met, Darryl admired Zachariah's way of handling matters and liked him even more now.

Zachariah laughed, scanning the surroundings. "This isn't a good place to discuss matters; why don't you come over to my place, Mr. Darby?"

Darryl agreed. They stood up and walked out.

Though his father was still in the patient ward, his mother was there to take care of him. Furthermore, Shelly was now the Chief of Staff, so he wouldn't have to worry.

Shelly was stunned by what just happened. She was in total awe of Darryl's abilities that she would even kneel to him.

The western suburbs of Donghai City housed a 5A-rated scenic area. A three-story high ancient-styled Chinese tower was erected by the lake. This may not be by the sea, but the view was astounding.

The tower belonged to Zachariah, his place of residence. Upon Zachariah's invitation, Darryl entered. In the huge hall on the third floor, Darryl sat on the sofa and retrieved a Godly pill from his pocket, placing it on the table.

Zachariah's eyes gleamed. He took the pill in his hands and examined it closely. "This is the Godly pill?" he asked.

"Correct. Brandon consumed it; that's why he managed to break through," replied Darryl with a smile.

"When I heard the news from Brandon, I couldn't believe it—how could such a young person like you produce such a magical Godly pill? It seems that you, Brother Darryl, are no ordinary person," exclaimed Zachariah.

At that, Zachariah signaled his assistant to wire the money to Darryl and said sentimentally, "Sigh, it's been five years since I could level up in my cultivation practice. I finally got what I wished for today."

Darryl smiled, marveling at the interior decor while analyzing the entire layout of the tower. When he saw the fish tank near the stairs, he grimaced.

"President Wright, do you usually practice your cultivation here?" asked Darryl.

Zachariah nodded, "Yes, this is a good place—very quiet."

"Perhaps I finally know why you can't break through," Darryl suggested.

Zachariah was stunned and asked, "How so?"

Darryl pointed at the fish tank and said slowly, "The feng shui and the layout of the tower are great, except for one issue..."

"The fish tank?" Zachariah asked astonishingly. "Brother Darryl, you even know feng shui?"

Though astonished, Zachariah was still doubtful of Darryl. He didn't know feng shui himself, but when the tower was built, he had hired a famous feng shui master. The entire layout was done according to the feng shui master's request. Due to this, Zachariah's business and social status kept growing, and he even became an important politician.

Chapter 108

Darryl—realizing Zachariah's doubt—smiled gently and replied, "I know some, but if I'm not mistaken, the entire layout was done by a feng shui master?"

"Correct!" nodded Zachariah.

Darryl continued, "And this fish tank, it only came afterward, right?"

Zachariah replied, "Yes, this was given to me three years ago by a business partner."

"Exactly. This fish tank ruined the layout of the entire tower. Once the feng shui is messed up, the spiritual aura will thin. Practicing here will naturally be ineffective," Darryl said with a smile.

Zachariah was astounded. He could even deduce that the fish tank was a later addition. This young man was incredible!

Darryl wasn't spewing nonsense; his time studying the book "The Geomancy of Yin and Yang" had paid off. It was embedded deeply in his brain.

"So, you mean if I get rid of this fish tank, things will be restored?" asked Zachariah.

Darryl nodded, "Yes. Once you've gotten rid of the fish tank, try cultivating again and see if it's much better than before."

Zachariah immediately ordered his men to take the fish tank away. Then he crossed his legs and started meditating. He tried using his Real Energy. Just as Darryl said, it worked!

"That's great! I used to think the problem was me, but thanks to you, I could pinpoint the key issue!" Zachariah praised Darryl.

He walked to the room next door and returned with a manual.

He handed the manual to Darryl and said, "Brother Darryl, it is my absolute honor to have known you. Please accept this manual, 'Blazing Slash,' as a thank-you gift. I stumbled upon it a few years ago."

At the same time, Darryl's phone beeped. He saw that the money had been wired through. He accepted the manual from Zachariah and replied, "It's my pleasure as well. Unfortunately, I have other matters to attend to, so I'll have to take my leave."

Noon. The weather was hot, and young people in the city were discussing where to cool down.

Many women were taking photos of Darryl's car as he passed by.

Darby Mansion.

Darryl stopped the car and walked briskly toward the mansion.

The Darbys were having a gathering today. The atmosphere was festive and rowdy but immediately died down when Darryl entered.

"Bastard! How dare you come back! Your dad clearly did not raise you well!" someone in the mansion shouted.

Yumi slammed her chopsticks down, walked toward Darryl, and yelled, "Darryl, you filthy animal, how could you do such a degrading thing? The Darbys do not welcome you! Leave!"

"Yes, leave!"

"The fact that the Darbys produced a failure like you is a huge dishonor to us all!"

Darryl clenched his fist. He looked at them and asked, "I just want to ask you all, why did my father faint, and how did he end up in the hospital?"

Yumi snickered, "You dare to ask this? It's all because of you! We were generous enough to send him there!"

Darryl was outraged. His eyes flashed red, and he yelled, "You just dumped him at the hospital? Those were my parents! If you have any beef with me, you take it up with me. It has nothing to do with them!"

Yumi replied coldly, "What are you screaming for? How dare you speak to us about this? What you did to Jackson, your own brother, is good? You raped your siblings! You're not worthy to even be a filthy animal!"

"Okay, you said I raped Rebecca. What proof do you have?"

"Proof?" Yumi laughed coldly.

"Darryl, don't deny it. When Rebecca was in her room, there was an eight-diagram mirror," Florian added.

Everyone started to chime in.

"During Jackson's wedding, you mentioned that it was because of the eight-diagram mirror that Abby passed out."

"Yes! Only you in the entire Darby clan knows how to use the eight-diagram mirror! If it wasn't you who made Rebecca pass out with the eight-diagram mirror, who else could it be?"

"The gods have eyes, Darryl. Don't deny it anymore. You're disgusting."

Chapter 109

"Eight-diagram mirror?"

Darryl laughed coldly and faced Jackson, asking, "Brother, you suspect that I did it too?"

Darryl was the closest to Jackson in the entire family; they were like biological brothers. He believed Jackson wouldn’t be like the others, blaming him without knowing the truth.

However, Jackson's reply made Darryl's heart drop.

"Second brother, I trust you. But I am more curious about the eight-diagram mirror. What's the matter with that?" asked Jackson, devoid of any feelings.

The next second, Jackson was filled with resentment and rage as he screamed, "Do you know how long Rebecca and I were together? After so many years, we finally got married. Why would you do this? Why?!"

"Bastard, leave at once! Fuck off!"

Someone started throwing food at Darryl.

"Darryl, please leave; you are not welcome here!"

"You and your parents should just die! Don't ever come back here!"

Darryl's clothes were stained with food, and his heart bled. He clenched his fists tightly and said, "Fine, fine! Consider me unlucky! I previously helped out with the three-billion investment, yet I only got the Platinum Corporation in return. I'll consider the rest down the drain. From now on, I have nothing to do with you!"

With that, Darryl turned and left.

"Retard!"

"Filth!"

"He still has the face to draw the line?"

"Don't use the Darbys' name to cheat others!"

"Darbys' name? You think I care?" thought Darryl. He laughed, yet his eyes glistened with tears. He was not upset about being kicked out of the clan again; what he could not accept was that Jackson, his closest brother, did not trust him.

As if on cue, it started to rain.

As Darryl left, a black luxury minivan appeared in front of the Darbys' mansion.

A young man in a black suit got out, followed by a few men. The man was somber, his eyes filled with hatred.

If Darryl were there, he would be extremely surprised to see Skyler Burr, Head of Donghai City's Grandmaster Heaven Sect Branch.

Skyler and his men headed straight inside. The servants could feel their dangerous aura, so they didn’t question them.

The rest were still complaining about Darryl when they noticed Skyler.

"Who are you?" Yumi asked.

Skyler scanned the room and asked, "Is Darryl Darby here?" Though he seemed calm, he was fuming with rage.

He had been tricked by Darryl, who pretended to be the East King at his cult branch. He grew suspicious when Darryl made them break the cult rule by drinking, which he had drugged with sedatives. When he woke up, he knew he had been conned.

Since then, Skyler had sent men to investigate and discovered that the person pretending to be the East King was Darryl Darby.

He had just paid a visit to the Lyndons, but when he found no one there, he came straight to the Darbys.

At the mention of Darryl's name, everyone snickered. He was looking for Darryl? Birds of a feather flock together; he must be a good-for-nothing too.

"We don't have a Darryl Darby here," Yumi replied rudely.

Skyler frowned and asked in confusion, "Darryl is not a member of the Darbys?"

Yumi glared at him and said curtly, "Who told you that? That filth of an animal just left. If you're looking for him, head out. Don't interrupt our meal! Also, don't you have any manners? Do you know where this is? How could you just enter like that?"

Skyler was fuming. How dare someone talk to him like that? He was the Head of Branch for the Grandmaster Heaven Cult in Donghai City. He asked angrily, "I'll ask once more, where is Darryl Darby?"

Yumi flared up as well, "Do you not understand human words? We said Darryl is not here. We have no idea where he has run off to die! Leave, or I'll call the police!"

Was she looking for trouble? Skyler glared at her with a murderous expression. How could a Head of Branch be scolded by a woman? A gorgeous woman, nevertheless!

Chapter 110

“Hall Master, please don’t be angry. What’s most important for us now is to look for Darryl.” At that moment, a follower quickly persuaded, “After we find Darryl, it won’t be too late for us to return to punish this Darby family.”

Sighing, Skyler took a deep breath and managed to lower his anger. It was true that he had stolen the secret manual, Ascensions of the Nine Dragons, that belonged to the Cult Master. His plan was to make a copy of the manual and then return the original. However, before he managed to make a copy, Darryl had stolen the secret manual! The most important thing now was to locate the manual. If the Cult Master found out it was missing, he would be dead.

Skyler glared at Yumi coldly and left with the others.

“What was all that about? They dressed like big shots, but in fact, they were just petty thieves off the street. Darryl is useless for associating with this type of person,” Yumi joked about him as she watched Skyler leave with his followers.

Skyler was almost at the door of the mansion when he heard that, and his face turned dark! He gripped his fists tightly, bit his teeth, and said, “When the Grandmaster Heaven Cult controls all of Donghai City, the first person I will get rid of is you, Darby family.”

At the traffic light junction, Darryl rolled down the car window and lit a cigarette. He hadn’t smoked in a while.

His cellphone rang when he took a deep breath.

“Darryl, where are you?” It was Lily on the line.

Lily had become the major shareholder of the Lyndon family business now. She stood high within the Lyndon family and didn’t even need to worry about Grandma’s feelings. She had been so happy for the past two days.

Darryl glanced at the time. “I just got off from work.”

“Go on a date with me, please,” Lily said, despite her earlier hesitation.

Darryl's cigarette dropped from his hand to the ground. After three years of marriage, this was the first time Lily had asked him out. She used to say she felt ashamed to go out with him.

“Sure!” Darryl nodded.

Ten minutes later, Darryl spotted Lily on the pedestrian walkway.

That was the busiest street in Donghai City, filled with shops and stalls. He saw her among the huge crowd. He hadn’t seen her in two days, and she looked even more beautiful and attractive.

Lily waved at Darryl from the crowd, standing on her toes.

Her white T-shirt and tight jeans accentuated her perfect figure. Quite a few men turned to look at her.

Having such an attractive wife made all men dream of him.

Most importantly, there was another beautiful lady beside Lily, Jade. She was wearing a short dress that displayed her long legs.

Both of them were stunning in their own ways.

Upon seeing Darryl, Jade started to worry.

“Honey, I’m here!” Walking through the crowd, Darryl smiled.

If it were before, Lily would have been worried if he called her that. Now, she laughed and handed him her handbag. “Dear, you are responsible for carrying my handbag today.”

“Great!” Darryl replied with a happy smile. He turned to Jade and said, “I can help to hold yours too.”

Some time ago, Jade used to instruct Darryl on chores like washing pants and doing laundry. Now, to have Darryl help carry her bag? She wouldn’t dare ask.

She bit her lip but still handed over her handbag, silently saying, “Thank you... thank you, father.”

Darryl didn’t say a word. The three of them chatted while walking and stopped in front of a fashion boutique.

The mannequins in the boutique displayed a long dress. Darryl peeped at the price tag: thirty-eight thousand.

“Go ahead and try it if you like it,” said Darryl with a smile.

Lily smiled back at him. “Are you going to buy it for me? Is your salary sufficient to buy it?”

Even then, Lily still believed Darryl was just working for someone.

Darryl nodded and turned to the sales assistant. “Hi, please take this down and let my wife try it on.”

The sales assistant, a young lady in her twenties, walked over and glanced at Darryl. Seeing that he wore normal clothes, her face turned dark. “Sorry, mister. You can’t try it on if you aren’t buying it.”

She looked at Lily as she spoke, then figured that Darryl was trying to impress her, pretending to be rich. She felt they would never buy the dress even if she tried it on.

A poor, disgusting man, she thought. Not only was he wearing cheap clothes, but they even had stains of egg yolk and vegetables. How disgusting!

“Can’t try it if not buying?” Darryl smiled. What kind of logic was that? How could he buy it if Lily didn’t try it on?

Lily felt embarrassed. It was obvious the sales assistant looked down on them. To be honest, that dress did look great.

Thirty-eight thousand bucks. Even though she had just become a shareholder in the Lyndon family business, all the money was trapped in the business. She really couldn’t afford that dress.

“Darryl, let’s go,” Lily said quietly.

Seeing his wife wanted to leave, Darryl nodded. There were beautiful dresses everywhere; they didn’t need to buy just that one.

They were about to leave when they heard a female voice from behind: “Sales assistant, take down the dress; I want to try it on.”

A well-dressed, rich-looking lady pointed at the dress Lily had set her eyes on earlier. Beside the rich-looking lady was a man wearing a gold chain and gold rings, his dazzling look hard to miss.

Really? Such a thick gold necklace? Would he not worry it might break his spine?

“Yes, sure. Please wait a moment!” The sales assistant snatched the dress from Lily's hands.

Wow, that sales assistant changed her tone rather quickly. Darryl sighed.

He was too lazy to dwell further with the sales assistant. After three years of marriage, this was the first time he was on a date with his wife. He didn’t want to spoil the mood.

Since his wife wanted to shop for dresses, they could go elsewhere. That was a high-class boutique; even though the prices were steep, the dresses looked good. They could shop somewhere else.

Darryl thought about it and turned to leave. He didn’t expect the sales assistant to speak further.

“Nowadays, everyone is pretending to be rich. Can’t afford the dress but still want to try it on. Perhaps she’ll take some pictures to post on social media. In the end, she won’t buy the dress. What kind of people are these?”

The sales assistant spoke loudly, causing customers and shop owners nearby to look over and start pointing at them.

“You’re just a sales assistant, but you’re acting so proud already?” Darryl couldn’t hold it any longer and said.
